Synopsis – What to Expect from “The Accidental Tourist”
The Accidental Tourist is a 1988 American drama film directed by Lawrence Kasdan, and starring William Hurt, Kathleen Turner, and Geena Davis.
The story follows Macon Leary (William Hurt), a middle-aged travel writer who has been unable to adjust to the death of his son. He is divorced from his wife Sarah (Kathleen Turner), and the two of them are struggling to come to terms with their loss and the end of their marriage.
Macon is offered a job to write a series of guidebooks for business travelers, which requires him to travel the world. While on the road, Macon meets Muriel (Geena Davis), an eccentric dog trainer who helps him to come to terms with his grief and learn to live again.
The two eventually fall in love, and Macon is forced to choose between his old life and the new one he has found with Muriel. He must decide if he can open himself up to love and happiness once again, or if he will remain bound to his old life and the pain it brings.
The Accidental Tourist is a powerful and moving story of love, loss, and redemption. It is a story of how even in our darkest moments, we can still find hope and joy, and how love can be found in the most unlikely places.
