Synopsis – What to Expect from “Targets”
Targets is a 1968 American thriller written and directed by Peter Bogdanovich. It stars Boris Karloff as an aging horror movie star who is targeted by a crazed sniper.
The movie opens with a young man, Bobby Thompson (Tim O’Kelly), driving around Los Angeles in a convertible. He stops at a gas station and encounters an old man, Byron Orlok (Boris Karloff), who is a retired horror movie star. Bobby is a fan of Orlok’s movies and they chat for a moment before Bobby leaves.
Later, Bobby is revealed to be a crazed sniper who is randomly killing people in the city. Meanwhile, Orlok is in the middle of a promotional tour for his latest movie, which is a remake of one of his classic films. He is accompanied by his manager, Sam (Peter Bogdanovich).
As Bobby’s killing spree continues, Orlok begins to suspect that he is the target of the sniper. He and Sam investigate the murders and discover that Bobby is the one responsible. They also discover that Bobby is obsessed with Orlok’s old movies and is trying to recreate them in real life.
Orlok and Sam set a trap for Bobby, but he manages to escape. Orlok then takes matters into his own hands and confronts Bobby in a final showdown. In the end, Orlok is able to stop Bobby and the police arrive to take him away
