Synopsis – What to Expect from “Tarantula”
Tarantula is a 1955 American science fiction horror film directed by Jack Arnold. It stars John Agar, Mara Corday, and Leo G. Carroll.
The plot of Tarantula follows a small desert town in Arizona, which is terrorized by an enormous, mutated tarantula. The giant spider is the result of an experiment gone wrong by a local scientist, Dr. Matt Hastings (Leo G. Carroll). Hastings had been experimenting with a growth serum to increase the size of animals, but the serum had a side effect of making the animals become violent.
When the tarantula escapes and begins terrorizing the town, Hastings and his assistant, Stephanie Clayton (Mara Corday), attempt to capture it. However, their efforts are complicated by the fact that the spider is growing larger and more aggressive with each passing day.
The townspeople, led by Sheriff Jack Andrews (John Agar), eventually join forces to try and stop the giant spider. They use a variety of weapons and tactics, but the spider is too powerful and relentless. Eventually, they are able to lure the tarantula into a deep pit, where they can finally subdue it.
In the end, the town is saved, and Dr. Hastings is able to find a cure for the serum’s side effects. However, the experience has left the townspeople shaken, and they vow to never again allow such a dangerous experiment to take place in their
