Synopsis – What to Expect from “Taking Woodstock”
Taking Woodstock is a 2009 comedy-drama film directed by Ang Lee and written by James Schamus. It is an adaptation of Elliot Tiber’s memoir Taking Woodstock: A True Story of a Riot, a Concert, and a Life.
The film follows Elliot Tiber (Demetri Martin), a young man who is struggling to keep his family’s motel alive in the small town of Bethel, New York. When he hears that the nearby town of White Lake is hosting a huge music festival, he sees an opportunity to save his family’s motel and decides to help promote the event.
However, Elliot soon finds himself in over his head as he deals with the influx of hippies, police officers, and other festival-goers. He also must contend with his parents, who are not happy about the changes that are taking place in their small town.
The film follows Elliot as he navigates the chaos of the Woodstock Music and Art Fair and deals with his family’s reactions to the event. As the festival progresses, Elliot discovers a newfound sense of purpose and discovers the power of music and friendship.
Taking Woodstock is a funny and touching story about a young man who discovers his place in the world. The film is filled with memorable performances, great music, and a message about the power of community.
