Synopsis – What to Expect from “Swelter”
Swelter is a 2014 action-thriller about a group of five men who are released from prison after serving an extended sentence for a crime they did not commit. After being released, they plan to take revenge on the corrupt sheriff who wrongfully convicted them.
The five men, led by Reno (Lennie James) and his younger brother, J.D. (Grant Bowler), head to a small desert town in Nevada to exact their revenge. The town is controlled by a corrupt sheriff, Sheriff Owens (Alfred Molina), and his gang of thugs.
The five men quickly realize that Owens is not going to go down without a fight. Owens has the townspeople under his thumb and is willing to do whatever it takes to keep them in line. He also has a well-equipped militia to back him up.
The five men must use their wits, skills, and courage to take on Owens and his gang. They must also find a way to get the townspeople to rise up against Owens, as they are too scared to do it themselves.
The five men must also deal with their own inner demons, as they are all struggling with guilt for the events that led to their imprisonment. As they fight Owens and his gang, they must also come to terms with their past and find a way to move forward.
