Synopsis/Plot
Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street is a 2007 musical film directed by Tim Burton and starring Johnny Depp as the title character, a barber who returns to London after years of exile to take revenge on the people who wronged him.
The film is set in 19th-century London and follows the story of Benjamin Barker, a barber who is falsely convicted and exiled by a corrupt judge, Judge Turpin (Alan Rickman). After fifteen years of exile, Barker returns to London under the alias of Sweeney Todd and opens a barber shop above Mrs. Lovett’s (Helena Bonham Carter) pie shop. With the help of Mrs. Lovett, Sweeney Todd begins to plot his revenge against Judge Turpin and the other people who wronged him.
Sweeney Todd’s plan is to kill the people who wronged him and use their flesh to make Mrs. Lovett’s pies. As his plan unfolds, Sweeney Todd’s thirst for revenge leads him to become a murderous barber, earning him the nickname “The Demon Barber of Fleet Street”.
