Synopsis – What to Expect from “Superman and the Mole-Men”
Superman and the Mole-Men is a 1951 American superhero film directed by Lee Sholem and starring George Reeves as Superman and Phyllis Coates as Lois Lane.
The film follows Superman as he responds to a mysterious drilling operation in a small town, which is actually a subterranean people called the Mole-Men. The Mole-Men have come to the surface to find a new home, but the frightened townspeople are determined to drive them away. Superman intervenes and attempts to protect the Mole-Men, but the townspeople will not be swayed.
Meanwhile, a ruthless oil baron named Lex Luthor is determined to take advantage of the situation and use the Mole-Men to gain access to valuable oil reserves. He has his henchmen capture the Mole-Men and plans to use them as slave labor to extract the oil.
Superman must confront Luthor and his henchmen and save the Mole-Men from a life of slavery. He also must protect the townspeople from the Mole-Men, who have become frightened and hostile due to their mistreatment.
The film culminates with Superman succeeding in his mission and the Mole-Men returning to their underground home. The townspeople learn to accept the Mole-Men as their neighbors, and Superman is praised for his heroism.
