Synopsis – What to Expect from “Sun Dogs”
Sun Dogs is a 2017 American comedy-drama film directed by Jennifer Morrison. It tells the story of Ned Chipley, a socially awkward 17-year-old from a small town in California who is determined to join the military and serve his country.
The film begins with Ned and his best friend, Tally, working at a local store. Ned is eager to join the military and serve his country, but his mother, a single parent, is opposed to the idea. Despite her protests, Ned is determined to enlist and sets out to find a recruiter.
On his journey, Ned meets a variety of eccentric characters, including an ex-Marine who takes him under his wing and a mysterious woman who claims to be a recruiter. He also meets a young woman, Maddie, who is on the run from her abusive boyfriend. Ned and Maddie quickly become close, and Ned helps her escape from her dangerous situation.
Ned’s journey eventually leads him to a remote desert town, where he meets a group of misfits who help him in his quest. He also discovers that the woman he met earlier is a con artist, and that the only way to enlist is to find a real recruiter.
Despite facing many obstacles along the way, Ned eventually finds a real recruiter and is accepted into the military. He then returns home to his mother and friends, where he is welcomed with open arms.
