Synopsis/Plot
Suite Française is a romantic drama set in 1940s France during the Nazi occupation. It follows the story of Lucille Angellier (Michelle Williams), a young French woman who is married to an older, domineering husband. When the Nazis arrive in their small village, Lucille is forced to take in a German officer, Bruno von Falk (Matthias Schoenaerts), as a lodger. As the war rages on, the two begin to form an unlikely bond, and Lucille begins to question her loyalty to her husband and her country.
The film follows Lucille’s journey of self-discovery as she navigates the complexities of life in Nazi-occupied France. She must grapple with her feelings for Bruno and decide between her husband and her lover. Meanwhile, the war rages on and the villagers must cope with the harsh realities of life under Nazi rule.
The film is a powerful exploration of love, loyalty, and courage in the face of adversity. It is an emotionally charged story of a woman’s struggle to find her own identity and to make the right decisions in a time of great turmoil and uncertainty. With stunning cinematography and excellent performances
