Set in the last two days of 1999, the movie follows the story of former cop turned black marketeer Lenny Nero (Ralph Fiennes), who deals in a new form of virtual reality technology called “SQUID recordings”. These recordings allow users to experience the memories and sensations of other people, and Nero uses them to provide voyeuristic thrills to his customers.
