Synopsis – What to Expect from “Still Crazy”
Still Crazy is a 1998 British comedy-drama film about a fictional 1970s rock band called Strange Fruit. The film follows the band as they reunite twenty years after they split up.
The film begins with the band’s lead singer Tony (Bill Nighy) in London, performing an acoustic version of their hit song “Strange Fruit”. Tony has since become a successful music producer, but still dreams of a Strange Fruit reunion.
The other members of the band, including guitarist Ray (Jimmy Nail), bassist Beano (Timothy Spall), and drummer Leslie (Billy Connolly), are all living their own lives. Ray is a reclusive songwriter who has not performed in years. Beano is a successful businessman who has become estranged from his wife and children. Leslie is a struggling musician who is still trying to make it big.
When Tony convinces the other members to reunite, they begin to rehearse for a comeback tour. They soon realize that the years have taken their toll on the band’s chemistry, and they struggle to recapture their old magic.
The band embarks on a tour of Europe, playing to sold-out crowds. Along the way, they have to deal with old rivalries, health issues, and their own personal demons. As the tour progresses, the band members begin to realize that they still have something special and that they are still crazy after all these years.
