Synopsis/Plot
Splendor in the Grass is a 1961 American romantic drama film directed by Elia Kazan and written by William Inge. The film stars Natalie Wood, Warren Beatty, Pat Hingle, and Audrey Christie.
The story follows two teenagers, Deanie Loomis (Wood) and Bud Stamper (Beatty), who are deeply in love but are unable to consummate their relationship due to the social pressures of their small Kansas town in the 1920s. Deanie is from a wealthy family, while Bud is the son of a powerful oil tycoon. The families of both Deanie and Bud are opposed to their relationship, and the pressures of society cause Deanie to suffer a nervous breakdown.
