As the scientists work to perfect their creation, they discover that the hybrid, Sil (Henstridge), is a dangerous and powerful creature that is intent on destroying humanity.
The story begins with a team of scientists, led by Xavier Fitch (Kingsley), discovering an extraterrestrial organism in a meteorite that crashed in Mexico. The team collects the organism and begins to study its DNA, eventually creating a hybrid human-alien species. However, Sil quickly learns that she has superhuman powers and escapes the laboratory, intent on fulfilling her alien instincts to mate with a human male and create a new species.
