Synopsis/Plot
Soylent Green is a 1973 science fiction thriller set in a dystopian future where overpopulation has caused a severe scarcity of food and resources. The film follows police detective Thorn (Charlton Heston) as he investigates the murder of a wealthy businessman. His investigation leads him to discover a shocking secret about the food product Soylent Green, a food substitute made from plankton that is the only food available to the majority of the population. As he delves deeper into the mystery, he discovers a sinister conspiracy by the Soylent Corporation to keep the truth about the product hidden from the public. With the help of his friend Sol (Edward G. Robinson) and a mysterious woman named Shirl (Leigh Taylor-Young), Thorn must uncover the truth and expose the conspiracy before it is too late. With action, suspense, and a thought-provoking message about the dangers of overpopulation, Soylent Green is a classic science fiction thriller that still resonates with audiences today.
