Synopsis – What to Expect from “Something Wild”
Something Wild is a 1986 American comedy-drama film directed by Jonathan Demme and starring Melanie Griffith, Jeff Daniels, and Ray Liotta.
The film follows the story of Charlie Driggs (Jeff Daniels), a buttoned-down, conservative businessman who is taken on a wild ride by the free-spirited Lulu (Melanie Griffith). After meeting at a diner, Lulu convinces Charlie to join her on a road trip to her home in Pennsylvania. Along the way, they pick up a hitchhiker, Ray Sinclair (Ray Liotta), who turns out to be a violent ex-convict.
The three of them embark on a cross-country adventure that takes them through the Deep South and the Midwest. Along the way, Charlie learns to loosen up and embrace the wild side of life. He also discovers that there is more to Lulu than meets the eye.
The trio eventually make it to Pennsylvania, where they are met by Lulu’s ex-boyfriend, the dangerous and volatile Dennis (John Waters). Dennis and Ray become embroiled in a violent confrontation, while Charlie must decide whether to stay with Lulu or return to his old, predictable life.
