Synopsis/Plot
So I Married an Axe Murderer is a 1993 American romantic comedy film starring Mike Myers, Nancy Travis, and Anthony LaPaglia. The film follows the story of Charlie Mackenzie (Myers), a San Francisco beat poet who is afraid of commitment due to his parents’ divorce. After meeting Harriet Michaels (Travis), Charlie falls in love and decides to marry her. However, he soon finds out that she may be a serial killer, as her name is on the list of suspects in a series of axe murders.
Things get complicated when Charlie’s overbearing mother (Brenda Fricker) and eccentric psychiatrist (Alan Arkin) try to intervene, and Charlie has to make a decision between his fear of commitment and his love for Harriet. The film also features a supporting cast of characters, including Charlie’s best friend Tony (Phil Hartman) and his ex-girlfriend (Amanda Plummer).
