Synopsis/Plot
Snow White: A Tale of Terror is a 1997 dark fantasy horror film directed by Michael Cohn and starring Sigourney Weaver, Sam Neill, and Monica Keena. The film is a modern retelling of the classic Brothers Grimm fairy tale Snow White, set in a medieval universe.
The movie follows the story of Lilli Hoffman (Keena), a young girl who is orphaned and sent to live with her cruel stepmother Lady Claudia Hoffman (Weaver). Lady Claudia is a powerful and wealthy woman who is determined to keep her beauty and youth at any cost. She is also determined to keep Lilli from inheriting her late father’s estate.
Lilli is subjected to Claudia’s cruel and oppressive rule, and her life is filled with pain and suffering. When Lilli discovers a secret garden with a magical white deer, she makes a wish for freedom. Her wish is granted when a mysterious Huntsman (Neill) appears and offers to take her away from Claudia’s clutches.
