Smashed is a 2012 drama film directed by James Ponsoldt and written by Susan Burke and James Ponsoldt. It stars Mary Elizabeth Winstead and Aaron Paul as Kate and Charlie, a young married couple whose relationship is tested when Kate’s alcoholism begins to spiral out of control.
The film begins with Kate and Charlie, a married couple in their mid-twenties, who live an exciting and carefree lifestyle in Los Angeles. They are both passionate about their jobs and enjoy going out for drinks with their friends. But Kate’s drinking has become increasingly problematic, and it is beginning to affect her relationships and her job.
One night, after a drunken argument with Charlie, Kate wakes up in a strange house with no memory of how she got there. This is the first of many wake-up calls for Kate, and she decides to take action and get help for her drinking problem. She attends Alcoholics Anonymous meetings and begins to make progress in her recovery.
Meanwhile, Charlie is supportive of Kate’s efforts, but he is struggling to come to terms with his own feelings about her drinking. He is also struggling to accept that their relationship may never be the same again.
As Kate continues to make progress in her recovery, she begins to confront the issues that led to her drinking in the first place. She also begins to confront her own feelings of guilt and shame, and her relationship with Charlie is tested. Ultimately, Kate must decide if she
