Sleepless in Seattle is a romantic comedy released in 1993, directed and co-written by Nora Ephron and starring Tom Hanks and Meg Ryan. The movie follows Sam Baldwin (Tom Hanks), a widowed father who moves to Seattle with his son Jonah (Ross Malinger) after the death of his wife. Sam’s son calls a national radio talk show to find a new wife for his father, and the story follows Sam’s journey to find love again.
The story begins in Baltimore, where Sam is struggling to cope with his wife’s death. He and Jonah move to Seattle to start a new life. Jonah’s call to the radio show, hosted by the sympathetic and kindhearted Annie Reed (Meg Ryan), results in Sam being interviewed on the show. His story of loss and longing touches the hearts of millions of listeners, and Annie is particularly taken with Sam’s story.
Meanwhile, Annie is in a relationship with Walter (Bill Pullman), a successful journalist. Despite her feelings for Sam, she is committed to Walter and decides to fly to Seattle to meet Sam in person.
