Synopsis/Plot
Sleeping with Other People is a 2015 romantic comedy directed by Leslye Headland. The movie follows Lainey (Alison Brie) and Jake (Jason Sudeikis), two emotionally damaged people who reconnect at a sex addicts meeting 12 years after their college fling. Despite their mutual attraction, they decide to remain platonic friends as they both struggle to overcome their respective issues.
Lainey is a serial monogamist who is unable to commit to a serious relationship. She has a history of being too clingy, which has caused her to be dumped multiple times. Jake is a womanizer who has never been able to commit to one woman. He is also struggling with his own commitment issues.
The two become close friends and Jake helps Lainey as she attempts to win back her ex-boyfriend, Matt (Adam Scott). At the same time, Jake introduces Lainey to a world of casual sex and one-night stands. As their friendship deepens, they both realize that they have more in common than they thought, and start to develop feelings for each other.
