Synopsis/Plot
Singin’ in the Rain is a classic musical comedy from 1952 starring Gene Kelly, Donald O’Connor, and Debbie Reynolds. The movie follows the story of Don Lockwood, a silent film star, and his sidekick Cosmo Brown as they navigate the transition from silent films to “talkies” in Hollywood. Don is a popular silent film star but his success is threatened when the studio decides to make the transition to sound films. Don and Cosmo must find a way to make the transition successfully, while also dealing with the romantic entanglements of Don and his leading lady, Lina Lamont.
The movie features some of the most iconic musical numbers of all time, including the title song “Singin’ in the Rain”, “Make ’em Laugh”, and “Good Morning”. The movie also features some of the most iconic dance numbers, including the famous dance sequence between Gene Kelly and Debbie Reynolds on the lamppost.
