Synopsis – What to Expect from “Silver Streak”
Silver Streak is a 1976 American comedy-thriller film starring Gene Wilder, Richard Pryor, and Jill Clayburgh.
The movie follows George Caldwell (Gene Wilder), a mild-mannered book editor from Los Angeles who takes a train ride from LA to Chicago in order to attend his sister’s wedding. Along the way, he meets a beautiful woman named Hilly Burns (Jill Clayburgh) and the two quickly fall in love.
Unfortunately, George’s train ride takes a turn for the worse when he witnesses a murder on board the train. He is soon framed for the murder and is on the run from the police as well as a group of criminals led by the mysterious Mr. Brown (Patrick McGoohan).
With the help of Hilly and the train’s engineer Grover T. Muldoon (Richard Pryor), George escapes the police and the criminals and attempts to expose the real murderer and clear his name.
The trio must now evade the criminals and the police while trying to uncover the truth and save George from a wrongful conviction. Along the way, they must also deal with a series of comedic mishaps and misadventures.
In the end, George and Hilly are able to uncover the truth and prove George’s innocence. With the help of Grover, the trio are able to bring the real murderer to justice and finally get the happy ending they deserve.
