Synopsis – What to Expect from “Shoot Out”
Shoot Out is a 1971 American neo-noir crime drama directed by Henry Hathaway. The movie follows a bank robber, John W. “Doc” McCoy (Gregory Peck) and his wife Carol (Patricia Quinn), who are on the run from the law. After a successful heist, they are pursued by a relentless Texas Ranger, Captain Dave Bliss (Robert Duvall), and a Texas Ranger Captain, Frank Harrod (Paul Koslo).
The movie begins with Doc and Carol on the run from the law. After a series of car chases and shootouts, they eventually make it to the Mexican border. However, they are unable to cross due to the presence of the Texas Rangers. Doc and Carol are forced to hide out in a small town in Texas, where they meet a local barkeep, Frank Harrod.
Frank helps them hide and provides them with a place to stay. He also helps them plan their next move. While Doc is planning the next heist, the Rangers close in on their location. In a desperate attempt to escape, Doc and Carol steal a truck and drive off.
Meanwhile, the Rangers are hot on their trail. In a climactic showdown, the Rangers and Doc engage in a shootout in the middle of the desert. Doc and Carol eventually make it to the Mexican border, but not before being shot at by the Rangers.
