Synopsis – What to Expect from “Shockwave: Countdown to Disaster”
Shockwave: Countdown to Disaster is a 2017 disaster-thriller film about a team of scientists who must stop a massive earthquake from destroying the entire West Coast of the United States.
The film begins with a team of scientists led by Dr. Richard Adams (Tim Matheson) being recruited by the US government to investigate a series of earthquakes that have been occurring in the Pacific Northwest. Adams and his team travel to Seattle, Washington, to investigate the cause of the earthquakes.
When they arrive, they find that the quakes are being caused by a massive fault line beneath the city. Adams and his team discover that the fault line is connected to a massive underground magma chamber, which is slowly filling up with molten rock. If the magma chamber reaches critical mass, it could trigger a massive earthquake that would devastate the entire West Coast of the United States.
Adams and his team must race against time to find a way to stop the magma chamber from reaching critical mass and triggering the earthquake. They enlist the help of a seismologist, Dr. Sarah Ryan (Jill Hennessy), to help them analyze the data and come up with a plan.
With the clock ticking, Adams and his team must find a way to stop the magma chamber before it’s too late. As they race against time, they must also contend with a powerful corporate interest that wants to exploit the magma chamber to their own ends.
