Synopsis – What to Expect from “Shiloh”
Shiloh is a 1996 family drama directed by Dale Rosenbloom. It stars Scott Wilson, Blake Heron, and Michael Moriarty.
The movie follows a young boy named Marty Preston (Heron) who lives in the rural town of Friendly, West Virginia. His family is poor and his father is an alcoholic. One day, while walking in the woods, Marty discovers a beagle puppy that has been abused and neglected. He takes it home and names it Shiloh.
Marty’s parents, Ray and Louise Preston (Wilson and Ann Dowd), are initially against the idea of keeping the dog, but Marty is determined to keep Shiloh and eventually they relent. Unfortunately, Shiloh’s original owner, Judd Travers (Moriarty), is determined to get his dog back. He is a cruel and violent man who will stop at nothing to reclaim his property.
Marty must fight to keep Shiloh and protect him from Judd’s wrath. He is aided by his family, his friend, Sam (Joseph Mazzello), and a kindly old man named Mr. Turner (Rod Steiger). Together, they must find a way to keep Shiloh safe and make sure Judd never gets his hands on the dog again.
The movie follows Marty as he learns to stand up for himself and protect the ones he loves. It is a heartwarming story of family, friendship, and the power of love.
