Synopsis/Plot

Sgt. Stubby: An American Hero is an animated feature film based on the remarkable true story of the titular World War I hero. Directed by Richard Lanni, the film follows the incredible journey of a stray dog adopted by a young soldier, Robert Conroy, on the streets of New Haven, Connecticut.

Conroy and Stubby soon become inseparable and, with Conroy’s help, Stubby is smuggled onto the battlefields of France. There, Stubby serves with distinction, saving lives and earning the rank of Sergeant. He even earns a promotion to the rank of General by the end of the war.

Throughout his service, Stubby helps his fellow soldiers in a variety of ways, including warning them of poison gas attacks, locating wounded soldiers in no man’s land, and even catching a German spy. His loyalty and courage make him an American hero.
