Synopsis/Plot
Sense and Sensibility is a 1995 British-American period drama film directed by Ang Lee and based on Jane Austen’s 1811 novel of the same name. The story follows the Dashwood sisters, Elinor and Marianne, as they navigate their way through the constraints of Regency era society. After their father’s death, the sisters and their mother are left with little financial security. They are forced to move to a small cottage on a distant relative’s property, where they must rely on the good will of others to make their way in the world.
