Synopsis – What to Expect from “Semper Fi”
Semper Fi is a 2019 American drama film directed by Henry-Alex Rubin.
The movie follows the story of Cal (Jai Courtney), a young Marine Corps Sergeant who lives by the motto “Semper Fi” (Latin for “always faithful”). With dreams of becoming a Marine Corps Officer, Cal and his tight-knit group of friends, who have been together since childhood, enlist in the Marines.
Once in boot camp, Cal and his friends quickly learn the harsh realities of military life. As they struggle to survive the rigors of training, they form a bond that will last a lifetime.
When Cal’s best friend, Oyster (Nat Wolff), is injured in a training accident, Cal takes it upon himself to help Oyster get the medical attention he needs. But when Cal’s efforts to help his friend go against Marine Corps protocol, Cal finds himself in serious trouble.
The film follows Cal’s journey as he attempts to do the right thing, while also trying to stay true to his Marine Corps values. As the stakes get higher and higher, Cal must decide between his loyalty to his friends and his loyalty to the Marine Corps.
The film also stars Leighton Meester, Finn Wittrock, Beau Knapp, Arturo Castro, and Lance Reddick. Semper Fi is an inspiring story about friendship, loyalty, and doing what is right, no matter the cost.
