Synopsis/Plot
Secretariat is a 2010 American sports drama film produced and released by Walt Disney Pictures. It is based on the life of the 1973 Triple Crown-winning racehorse, Secretariat, and is directed by Randall Wallace. The film stars Diane Lane, John Malkovich, Dylan Walsh, and Margo Martindale.
The film follows the story of Penny Chenery Tweedy, a housewife and mother of four from Virginia, who reluctantly takes over her ailing father’s Virginia-based Meadow Stables. Despite the odds, she manages to turn the failing business into a success by training and entering the racehorse, Secretariat, into the 1973 Triple Crown. With the help of a veteran trainer, Lucien Laurin, and jockey, Ron Turcotte, Secretariat becomes the first horse in 25 years to win the Triple Crown.
The film follows the struggles of the Tweedy family, the dedication of the horse’s trainer, and the determination of the jockey to overcome the odds and make history. The film is filled with heartwarming moments of triumph, as well as the struggles of the characters to make their dreams come true.
