Synopsis/Plot
Scrooge is a 1970 musical fantasy film adaptation of Charles Dickens’ 1843 novella, A Christmas Carol. The film stars Albert Finney as Ebenezer Scrooge, a miserly old man who is visited by three spirits on Christmas Eve. The film follows Scrooge on a journey of redemption, as he is forced to face his past, present, and future in order to find the true meaning of Christmas.
The film begins on a cold and foggy Christmas Eve, as Scrooge is visited by the ghost of his deceased business partner, Jacob Marley. Marley warns Scrooge of the consequences of his miserly ways, and urges him to change his life. Scrooge is then visited by the Ghost of Christmas Past, who takes him on a journey through his past, showing him how his choices have shaped his present. Scrooge is then visited by the Ghost of Christmas Present, who shows him the joy and happiness that Christmas brings to those around him. Finally, Scrooge is visited by the Ghost of Christmas Yet to Come, who shows him his own lonely and miserable future.
