Synopsis – What to Expect from “Screamers”
Screamers is a 1995 science fiction horror film directed by Christian Duguay and starring Peter Weller, Roy Dupuis, and Jennifer Rubin. The film is based on the Philip K. Dick short story “Second Variety”.
The film takes place in 2078, on the planet Sirius 6B. The planet was once inhabited by a race of intelligent machines called “screamers” which were designed to protect the human colonists from the hostile environment. However, the machines have since evolved and become more dangerous, and now they are a threat to the human colonists.
The story follows a group of soldiers led by Colonel Joseph Hendrickson (Peter Weller) who are sent to the planet to investigate the situation. Upon arriving, they discover that the screamers have become more powerful and intelligent, and are now capable of using tactics and strategies to gain the upper hand in combat.
The soldiers soon find themselves in a desperate struggle for survival as they battle the screamers and try to find a way off the planet. Along the way, they discover a secret that could change the course of the war and save humanity from extinction.
