Synopsis – What to Expect from “Scaramouche”
Scaramouche is a 1952 historical adventure film directed by George Sidney and starring Stewart Granger, Eleanor Parker, and Janet Leigh. Set in the 18th century, the film follows the adventures of Andre Moreau (Granger), a young lawyer who is forced to go on the run after he is wrongfully accused of killing a nobleman in a duel.
Andre is forced to take refuge in a small village where he meets Aline de Gavrillac (Parker), a beautiful young noblewoman who takes a liking to him. He also meets a mysterious old man named Scaramouche (Mel Ferrer) who teaches him the art of fencing. Andre soon discovers that Scaramouche is actually the nobleman he is accused of killing, and that he is in fact his father.
With the help of Scaramouche, Andre is able to prove his innocence and clear his name. He then sets out to avenge his father’s death by challenging the nobleman’s murderer to a duel. After a long and intense battle, Andre is victorious and is able to return to Aline and their newfound love.
Scaramouche is a thrilling adventure filled with sword fights, romance, and intrigue. It is a classic tale of justice and revenge that will keep viewers on the edge of their seats.
