Rudolph’s Shiny New Year is a 1976 Christmas/New Year’s animated musical fantasy film produced by Rankin/Bass Productions. It stars the voices of Red Skelton, Frank Gorshin, and Morey Amsterdam.
The story follows Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer as he embarks on a quest to find Happy, the baby New Year, who has run away from Father Time. If he fails, it will be the end of the New Year and all of the world’s celebrations. With the help of a wise old bird named Ben, Rudolph sets off on a magical journey to the ends of the Earth to find Happy and restore the joy of the New Year.
On his journey, Rudolph encounters many strange and wonderful creatures, from the Abominable Snowman to the Three Bears. He also meets a beautiful princess named Mella, who helps him on his quest. Together, they must battle the evil Eon the Terrible, a giant vulture who is determined to prevent them from finding Happy.
Rudolph and Mella eventually find Happy and return him to Father Time, just in time to save the New Year. The celebration is joyous, and Rudolph is hailed as a hero. In the end, Rudolph learns that true happiness comes from helping others, and that friendship and loyalty are the best gifts of all.
