Synopsis/Plot
Room is a 2015 drama film directed by Lenny Abrahamson and written by Emma Donoghue, based on her novel of the same name. The film stars Brie Larson as Joy, a young mother who is held captive in a small, windowless room with her five-year-old son Jack, played by Jacob Tremblay.
The film follows Joy and Jack as they attempt to cope with their captivity and the psychological effects of being held prisoner. Joy is determined to protect Jack from the truth of their situation and to provide him with a normal life within the confines of their room. She creates imaginative games and activities to keep him entertained and to distract him from their dire circumstances.
When Jack turns five, Joy decides to tell him the truth about their situation and to attempt an escape. She devises a daring plan to break out of their room and to seek help from the outside world. With courage and determination, Joy and Jack face the challenges of their captivity and ultimately find the strength to escape and to start anew.
Room is an emotional and gripping story of courage and hope in the face of adversity. It is a powerful reminder that even in the darkest of circumstances, love and resilience can prevail.
