Synopsis/Plot
Romeo & Juliet is a classic love story based on William Shakespeare’s tragedy of the same name. The story follows two star-crossed lovers from two rival families, the Montagues and the Capulets, who fall madly in love with each other despite their families’ bitter feud. The lovers must find a way to be together despite the constant interference of their families and the society in which they live.
The movie follows the traditional story of Romeo and Juliet, opening with a street brawl between the two families. Romeo, a Montague, is instantly smitten with Juliet, a Capulet. Despite their families’ rivalry, the two are determined to be together. After a secret marriage ceremony, the two make plans to be together forever.
However, their plans are quickly derailed when Romeo is exiled from Verona after killing Tybalt, Juliet’s cousin. Juliet, desperate to be with Romeo, takes a potion that puts her in a deathlike state. Romeo, unaware of Juliet’s plan, returns to Verona to find Juliet dead. In a final act of despair, Romeo takes his own life.
The movie ends with the two families reconciling and mourning the loss of their children.
