Synopsis – What to Expect from “Romeo Is Bleeding”
Romeo Is Bleeding is a 1993 neo-noir crime film directed by Peter Medak and starring Gary Oldman, Lena Olin, and Annabella Sciorra. The film follows Jack Grimaldi (Oldman), a corrupt cop who is caught in the middle of a deadly feud between two powerful mobsters, Don Falcone (Roy Scheider) and Don Angelo (Michael Wincott).
Jack is a veteran police officer who has become disillusioned with the system and has become a pawn in the mobsters’ deadly game. He is hired by Falcone to take out Angelo, but instead of killing him, Jack decides to double-cross Falcone and take the money for himself. However, his actions have dire consequences, as his betrayal leads to a bloody gang war between the two mobsters.
Meanwhile, Jack is also struggling with his own personal life, as his marriage to his wife, Mona (Olin), is on the rocks. Mona is having an affair with Jack’s partner, Jimmy (James Gandolfini), and Jack is unable to cope with the betrayal.
As the gang war escalates, Jack is forced to confront his own inner demons and make some tough decisions. He must decide whether to stay loyal to his corrupt employers, or turn on them and risk his life to save Mona and Jimmy. In the end, Jack must choose between loyalty and love, as he is caught in a web of violence
