Synopsis – What to Expect from “Rollerball”
Rollerball is a 2002 science fiction sports action film directed by John McTiernan and starring Chris Klein, Jean Reno, LL Cool J, and Rebecca Romijn.
The film follows Jonathan Cross (Klein), a young professional rollerball player who is recruited by the corporate-controlled Rollerball league. Cross is determined to win the championship and prove to the world that he is the best.
The Rollerball league is controlled by the Energy Corporation, a powerful global conglomerate that uses the sport to maintain control over its citizens. The game itself is a dangerous mix of roller derby, rugby, and motorcross, and is designed to keep the population distracted from the corporation’s true intentions.
Cross and his teammates must battle their way through a series of increasingly dangerous games in order to reach the championship. Along the way, they uncover the true purpose of the league and the sinister agenda of the Energy Corporation.
Cross and his team must fight for their freedom and the future of the sport, while struggling to survive the corporate-controlled Rollerball league. With the help of his teammates, Cross must overcome the odds and prove that he is the best.
