Synopsis/Plot
Role Models is a 2008 comedy film directed by David Wain and written by Wain and Timothy Dowling. The film stars Seann William Scott and Paul Rudd as Danny and Wheeler, two energy drink salesmen who are ordered to perform 150 hours of community service as punishment for various offenses. In order to avoid jail time, they are assigned to serve as “Big Brothers” to two troubled boys, Augie (Christopher Mintz-Plasse) and Ronnie (Bobb’e J. Thompson).
Danny and Wheeler are initially reluctant to take on the responsibility, but they eventually come to enjoy their time with Augie and Ronnie. Augie is an obsessive-compulsive fantasy role-player, while Ronnie is a foul-mouthed, trouble-making teenager. Through their interactions with the boys, Danny and Wheeler learn to appreciate the importance of responsibility and friendship. Along the way, they also gain insight into their own lives, finding the courage to make changes and take risks.
Throughout the film, Danny and Wheeler’s relationship with Augie and Ronnie is tested as they confront various obstacles. They must deal with their own past mistakes, the boys’ troubled home lives, and the challenges of being a role model
