Synopsis – What to Expect from “RocketMan”
RocketMan is a 1997 science fiction comedy film starring Harland Williams as Fred Z. Randall, a wacky and eccentric wannabe astronaut. Randall is a janitor who works for NASA and dreams of one day becoming an astronaut.
When a new mission to Mars is announced, Randall decides to take matters into his own hands and attempts to become an astronaut. With the help of his best friend, a talking computer named Max (played by William Shatner), Randall attempts to fool NASA into thinking he is an astronaut, and eventually succeeds in getting a spot on the mission.
The mission itself is a disaster, as Randall’s inexperience and lack of knowledge of the mission’s protocols lead to a series of mishaps. Despite this, Randall and his crew reach Mars and manage to make a successful landing.
Once on the planet, Randall discovers an alien race living on Mars and finds himself in the middle of a conflict between them and the humans. He is able to use his wacky and eccentric nature to help broker a peace between the two species.
At the end of the movie, Randall is able to return to Earth and is hailed as a hero. He is given a medal for his bravery and is given a job at NASA as an astronaut.
