Synopsis/Plot
Robin and Marian is a 1976 British-American romantic adventure drama film directed by Richard Lester and written by James Goldman. The film stars Sean Connery as Robin Hood, Audrey Hepburn as Lady Marian, Robert Shaw as the Sheriff of Nottingham, Nicol Williamson as Little John, and Richard Harris as King Richard the Lionheart.
The film follows the aging Robin Hood and Lady Marian, who have been living in the forest for eight years since Richard the Lionheart left for the Crusades. They are reunited when Richard returns to England, but are soon forced to face the realities of their age. Robin is shot by an arrow, and Marian must take him to a nunnery to be treated. When Robin recovers, he and Marian must decide whether to stay in the forest or return to society.
The film is a bittersweet and nostalgic look at the legend of Robin Hood, exploring themes of aging, mortality, and love. It is a beautiful, romantic, and ultimately tragic story of two people who have been deeply in love for many years, and who must now face the realities of their age and mortality.
