Synopsis/Plot
Road Trip is a 2000 American comedy film directed by Todd Phillips and starring Breckin Meyer, Seann William Scott, Amy Smart, and Paulo Costanzo. The film follows four college friends, Josh (Meyer), Kyle (Scott), E.L. (Costanzo), and Rubin (Tom Green) as they embark on a cross-country road trip from Ithaca, New York to Austin, Texas.
The film begins with Josh and his girlfriend Tiffany (Smart) making plans for their long-distance relationship. Josh is a student at Cornell University and Tiffany is attending the University of Austin. When Josh discovers that Tiffany has been cheating on him with a fellow student, he impulsively decides to drive to Austin to win her back. He enlists the help of his three friends and they set off on an adventure.
The four friends face a number of obstacles on their road trip, including a car breakdown, an encounter with a gun-toting hitchhiker, and a detour to a strip club. Along the way, they also find time to enjoy the sights and sounds of the American countryside. They also discover that friendship and loyalty are more important than anything else.
