Synopsis/Plot
Risen is a biblical epic film released in 2016 starring Joseph Fiennes, Tom Felton, and Peter Firth. Directed by Kevin Reynolds, the movie follows the story of Clavius, a Roman military tribune (Fiennes) who is tasked by Pontius Pilate (Firth) to investigate the mysterious disappearance of Jesus Christ (Cliff Curtis) after his crucifixion. With the help of his aide, Lucius (Felton), Clavius embarks on a quest to uncover the truth about the messianic figure. Along the way, Clavius is confronted with a series of challenges and obstacles that test his faith and loyalty to Rome.
The movie follows Clavius as he searches for the truth about Jesus and his followers. He encounters a variety of characters, including Mary Magdalene (Maria Botto), a woman who was present at the crucifixion and is now devoted to spreading the message of Jesus. Clavius also meets a group of disciples who were present at the time of the crucifixion and who have since become devoted followers of Jesus. As Clavius begins to understand the teachings of Jesus, he starts to question his own beliefs and his loyalty to Rome.
