Synopsis – What to Expect from “Ripley’s Game”
Ripley’s Game is an intense psychological thriller based on the novel by Patricia Highsmith. It follows the story of Tom Ripley (John Malkovich), a successful businessman living in Italy who is unknowingly drawn into a deadly game of cat and mouse with a local mobster.
The story begins with Ripley’s chance meeting with Jonathan Trevanny (Dougray Scott), a British expatriate living in Italy. After a few drinks, Jonathan reveals to Ripley that he is dying of leukemia and has only a few months to live. Ripley, feeling a sense of pity for the man, offers him a job as a hitman.
Reluctantly, Jonathan takes the job and is soon sent to Germany to kill a rival mobster. He succeeds in his mission but is then forced to take on a second job. This time, he must assassinate a rival mobster in London.
Jonathan is successful in his mission but is then blackmailed by the mobster’s family. They threaten to reveal his identity and his involvement in the murder unless he carries out one final job. This time, he must kill a prominent businessman in Italy.
Ripley, now aware of Jonathan’s involvement in the mob’s activities, decides to help him. He sets up a plan to protect Jonathan and also to exact revenge on the mobster’s family. However, the plan doesn’t go as smoothly as expected and soon Ripley and Jonathan find
