Synopsis/Plot
Rio Bravo is a classic western movie directed by Howard Hawks and starring John Wayne, Dean Martin, Ricky Nelson, Walter Brennan, and Angie Dickinson. Set in the small town of Rio Bravo, Texas, the film follows Sheriff John T. Chance (John Wayne) as he attempts to keep the peace in the town while facing off against the powerful rancher Joe Burdette (Claude Akins).
The story opens with Chance arresting Joe’s brother, the drunken and violent Nathan Burdette (John Russell). Joe retaliates by hiring a group of thugs to help him break Nathan out of jail. Chance is joined by his old friend, the cantankerous Stumpy (Walter Brennan), the young gunslinger Colorado Ryan (Ricky Nelson), and the beautiful Feathers (Angie Dickinson), a saloon singer with a mysterious past. Together, they must use all their wits and courage to protect the town from Joe’s hired guns.
