Synopsis – What to Expect from “Ride the High Country”
Ride the High Country is a classic western film released in 1962. It follows the story of two retired lawmen, Steve Judd (Randolph Scott) and Gil Westrum (Joel McCrea). The two men have been hired to transport a shipment of gold from a mining town to a bank in a nearby town.
The journey is long and arduous, and along the way they encounter many obstacles. They are pursued by a group of outlaws, led by a ruthless killer named Heck Longtree (Ron Starr). They also have to deal with a hostile local population who are suspicious of their intentions.
The journey is further complicated when they meet a young woman named Elsa Knudsen (Mariette Hartley), who is running away from an arranged marriage. Steve and Gil decide to help her, and they soon all become close friends.
The journey takes a dramatic turn when they discover that the gold shipment is actually stolen. They must now find a way to return the gold and protect Elsa from Heck and his gang.
The film culminates in a thrilling gunfight between Steve, Gil, and Heck. In the end, Steve and Gil prevail and return the gold to its rightful owner. Along the way, they have gained a newfound appreciation for the beauty and danger of the high country.
