Synopsis – What to Expect from “Reign Over Me”
Reign Over Me is a 2007 comedy-drama film starring Adam Sandler, Don Cheadle, Jada Pinkett Smith, Liv Tyler, and Donald Sutherland.
The movie follows Charlie Fineman (Adam Sandler), a man who has lost his entire family in the September 11 attacks. Charlie is a broken man who has completely shut himself off from the world, living in his own little world and avoiding any kind of contact with the outside world.
Charlie’s old college roommate, Alan Johnson (Don Cheadle), is a successful dentist who is struggling with his own issues, including his marriage and his daughter. When Alan spots Charlie one day, he is determined to help him.
Alan takes it upon himself to help Charlie re-engage with the world outside. He takes him to his home, introduces him to his family, and helps him find a job. Alan also introduces Charlie to his daughter, who helps him to open up and start to heal.
As Charlie slowly begins to rebuild his life, he also begins to reconnect with his old friends and family. He also begins to fall in love with his new neighbor, Angela (Liv Tyler).
However, Charlie’s newfound happiness is threatened when his old demons come back to haunt him. He is forced to confront the pain of his past and come to terms with the events of 9/11 in order to move on with his life.
