Synopsis – What to Expect from “Red Riding: The Year of Our Lord 1980”
Red Riding: The Year of Our Lord 1980 follows the story of Eddie Dunford (Andrew Garfield), a young and ambitious reporter who is determined to uncover the truth behind a series of child abductions in the Yorkshire town of West Yorkshire.
Eddie is determined to uncover the truth behind the abductions, which have been occurring for years, but he is met with resistance from the police and the local community who are convinced that the murderer is a local man, Bob Craven (Sean Bean). Eddie enlists the help of a mysterious figure, John Piggott (Peter Mullan), and together they begin to uncover a web of corruption that stretches back to the early days of the Yorkshire Ripper investigation.
As Eddie and John delve deeper into the case, they discover a number of shocking revelations, including the involvement of a powerful local businessman, Clifford Anderson (Mark Addy), who has been using his influence to cover up the murders. With the help of a local priest (David Morrissey) and a former detective (Robert Sheehan), Eddie and John are able to put the pieces of the puzzle together.
However, their investigation is soon met with threats and violence from Anderson and his associates. As Eddie and John get closer to the truth, they are forced to confront a dark and violent past that threatens to destroy them both. In the end, the truth is revealed and justice is served, but at a great cost.
