Synopsis – What to Expect from “Red Dog”
Red Dog is a 2011 Australian family comedy-drama film based on the true story of a Red Cloud Kelpie who roamed the Australian outback in search of his master. The film follows the story of the Red Dog, a lovable canine who becomes a beloved member of the isolated Pilbara community in Western Australia.
When the Red Dog arrives in the small outback town of Dampier, he quickly befriends the locals, including a young boy named Mick (Levi Miller). Mick takes a liking to the dog and the two become fast friends. As time passes, the Red Dog’s popularity grows, and he becomes the town’s mascot.
One day, the Red Dog’s owner, John (Josh Lucas), a truck driver, returns to Dampier to look for the Red Dog. John is a loner and is initially reluctant to take the dog back with him, but soon realizes that the Red Dog is the only thing keeping him connected to the town and its people.
The Red Dog’s newfound popularity in Dampier brings out the worst in some of the locals, who are jealous of the attention he receives.
