Synopsis/Plot
Real Genius is a 1985 American comedy film directed by Martha Coolidge and starring Val Kilmer, Gabriel Jarret, Michelle Meyrink, William Atherton, Jon Gries, and Fred Willard. The plot follows a group of gifted college students who must use their knowledge and skills to save their university from the machinations of a corrupt professor and industrialist.
The film follows Mitch Taylor (Kilmer), a brilliant young scientist who is recruited by the prestigious Pacific Tech University. He soon finds himself surrounded by a tight-knit group of fellow students, including Chris Knight (Jarret), who is a bit of a prankster and a bit of a genius. The group is led by Professor Hathaway (Atherton), a brilliant but eccentric professor who has a hidden agenda.
Meanwhile, the school is being targeted by an industrialist, Dr. Jerry Hathaway (Willard), who is determined to use the students’ genius for his own gain. The students must use their knowledge and skills to outwit the professor and the industrialist in order to save the school.
