Synopsis – What to Expect from “Ready to Wear”
Ready to Wear is a 1994 comedy/drama directed by Robert Altman. It tells the story of a large group of fashion designers, journalists, models, and celebrities who have gathered in Paris for the city’s annual fashion show.
The film follows the lives of the various characters as they navigate the world of high fashion. Marcello (Richard E. Grant) is a fashion designer who’s trying to make a name for himself in the industry. He’s constantly trying to make sure his designs are up to par with the latest trends. Meanwhile, his assistant, Lili (Kim Basinger), is trying to help him out as much as she can.
The film also focuses on the life of Pierre (Tim Robbins), a journalist from the United States who’s covering the fashion show for his magazine. He’s constantly trying to get the scoop on the latest trends and gossip. He also finds himself becoming increasingly attracted to Lili, which causes tension between him and Marcello.
The film also follows the lives of the various models and celebrities attending the fashion show. There’s the glamorous Princess Monique (Sophia Loren), her daughter Isabella (Linda Hunt), and the mysterious model, Katya (Linda Fiorentino).
